Hi.
So i've just got a pc working from bits and i put xp on there which all went ok.
But, theres no sound drivers installed. So i put belarc advicer on it and let it do a system scan, but it couldn't tell me what sound card i had installed:
To answer some questions, i have no sited help, the make is erelavent coz it was all made out of bits and i dont even kno if its got its own card or its intergrated into the mother board.
How do you all get around this? Any help would be great, thanks, BEN.

can't you just shove a little USB soundcard into it for the moment? Granted it's not a perm solution but it will get you up and running. Xp recognises those soundblaster USB cards.

It could possibly be a card that's not recognised by xp as well, I had to install the drivers for my network card, because it was a newer card.

Just to add to my last post, unless you have the cd for said card, you're out of luck. You might try one of the SBLive cards, because they're recognised by xp, just a suggestion.

Hi and thanks for the ideas.
in the end, i just put a ubuntu (linux) cd in which found sound so i got a sited person to read some stuff for me and i downloaded the drivers on driverguide.com.
Turns out that it had 2 cards, the onboard one which i didn't install drivers for and a c media one.
Thanks, BEN.
